We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. See, there's enough detail to make it look like the scruffy hair.
Don't shade in beards, instead make hard, soft, long and short strokes and even in between the mixes of strands overlapping in order to get the effect.
Also, work a bit on light tone. Just show contrast between where the light is and isn't showing.
(And I am critiquing art when I can't even draw realism.
Anyways I shall take that to note and hey, even if you don't work realism neither do I but good god critique can still help. Believe me and sorry it took so long to get back to this, I've been veeeery busy the past days.
Also yeah... I probably should have used a color and not a black and white reference. Anyways thanks for the critique and I'll check out your new stuff if you have some(I know you have new stories but what about art?)
Trust me, there's some stuff coming down the pipe soon.
